ASA Labor networking/mentoring effort

8/5/2019

The ASA's Labor Section is trying something new this year: instead of assigning individual mentors to graduate student section members, we will try a more collective approach, with a relatively informal get-together where graduate students and interested faculty members can chat about things like graduate school challenges, preparation for the job market, academic career questions and the like. We also hope this might  help graduate student members develop supportive networks beyond their own departments, especially with faculty who share their interests.

We will meet at the New York Hilton midtown, on Monday, August 12, from 12:10 to 2:00.
If you would like join us, either as a graduate student interested in labor sociology, or as a faculty member willing to participate, please let me know! Once I have a sense of how many people might attend, I will find an appropriate space.

thanks
Gay
