FINAL CALL! 2016 ASA Thematic/Session Planning

10/6/2014

Dear ASA Labor and Labor Movements section:

A couple weeks ago I circulated a call for suggestions for 2016 thematic/special session planning, which is happening very soon.

> THEMATIC Sessions (deadline: Nov 13)
> OTHER Sessions, inc. special sessions, Author Meets Critics, etc (deadline: Feb 5)
 http://www.asanet.org/meetings/member_suggestions.cfm

To clarify, these are sessions that are organized by the ASA president (Ruth Milkman in 2016) and her program committee.  We as a section can make proposals, and we are in a good position to do so this year given Ruth's long history with the section's work.

I am repasting the call, and requesting that you all please weigh in here at this google doc:

TAB 1: ASA_2016_Thematic-Special

Feel free to also add any notes you may have regarding other members' suggestions in the final column. We have received several good suggestions already, and would like to hear from more section members.

(You will also notice a 2nd tab focused on section session planning, which we won't revisit until Sept 2015.  However if you have thoughts  on a session theme that you would like to see incorporated into our section events, it's never too early to start the discussion.  So far, I've listed 2 section co-sponsorships that may be possibilities.)

Thanks and have a great rest of your week,

sg
